Taking the Train to Spain - Monday 11/16

Waking at 5:45 was a must to insure we arrived to meet our train to Barcelona today. It’s the only train going that way and we already have paid tickets. Packing the car at 7am was quite a fiasco. My mad backing the car and organizing skills came in very handy as well. Somehow we managed to get all of our bags in our rental car although Kara and Nana had a big bag on the seat between them for the entire ride. The curvy road down the mountain proved very interesting for them. I drove, Kristy nagivated (as always) and our back seat groupies kept the bag from flying around the backseat. We made it in time to the airport to return the rental car and then caught a bus to the train station. We had a nice lunch at the train station and some time to relax and then got on our train headed for Spain at 1:09 p.m. It was a bit of a challenge to get our bags and everyone on the train, but with Kara’s awesome leadership, we did it! I think probably should count as our workout for the day . The train ride is about 7 hours long and the views out the windows are just breathtaking. We had to change trains in Montpellier and Kara was worried about having time to get everything off one train and on another. We came up with a great plan it executed it flawlessly. Now we’re off again and enjoying the countryside. Nana and I decided to visit the next train, which also happens to be the bar. The bartenders were Spanish and told us all the necessary lingo needed for our next country. Lavabo for toilet, Vino for wine, Moi bien for very good, Adios for Goodbye - you get the picture. We had a small stop in Portbou where we got out, looked around and stretched our legs. The checked our passports here because it was the last stop before arriving in Spain. Our next stop is Figueras, then Girona and then we arrive at Barcelona at 8 p.m. We laughed a lot and look forward to our digs in Barcelona.
